Why write a resume in Markdown?
Word processors make you fiddle with tabs, text boxes and styles that break the moment you add a line. In Markdown, you write plain text — # Name, ## Experience, ### Job title and bullet points — and the theme handles spacing, alignment and typography consistently. It’s also easy to keep in version control and tailor for each application.
Anatomy of the template
# Your namebecomes a large heading in your accent colour.- The first paragraph is your contact line: location, email, website, phone.
## Sections(Summary, Experience, Skills, Education) get small-caps style headings with a rule.### Rolesare followed by an italic line for dates and location, then bullets with outcomes.
Writing tips
- Start bullets with a verb and end with a measurable result: “Cut onboarding time by 40%”.
- Keep it to one page unless you have 10+ years of directly relevant experience.
- Mirror the wording of the job description where it’s honest to do so — it helps ATS matching.
- Export a fresh PDF for every application rather than editing an old PDF.
